Communication
Radiological Communication Centre T3C

Radiological Communication Center T3C is a system for transferring patient's image data between medical facilities. System allows sending images of all RDG and NM modalities, Structured reports, and other DICOM data. It is possible to attach any file, e.g. documents, presentations, which will be sent with images. System supports sending between PACS systems, TomoCon Workstations, and TomoCon Workstation and PACS system.

System provides management of communication and guarantees that the transferred data will not be removed from the T3C Server before the recipient successfully downloads and decodes the data. It is possible to resume the downloading from or uploading to the Server, i.e. when a short interruption of network connectivity occurs, the process of downloading or uploading is resumed and continues as before the break. In case of short-term network break, the communication is resumed automatically, without the need of user interaction. Transferred images and attachments are automatically compressed losslessly, saving up to 50 % of data.
Transfer is protected by asymmetric encryption, which means that only the recipient can decrypt the data. Because of this, the patient information cannot be read by third party, even in case of communication eavesdropping, monitoring or breaking into the T3C Server. Digital signatures are used to sign the transferred data and only trusted and known data can be downloaded. It is impossible to forge the data or pretend to be someone else. Server keeps track of trusted and known clients, and only they are authorized to use the Server.

Other features:

  • To increase the safety and security level, all data is encrypted and signed, making it impossible to send untrusted data from untrusted clients.
  • Communication is allowed between any two clients, without other clients knowing this.
    The T3C Server is located in restricted area protected by alarm system.

System T3C for the client consists of:

  • Software Service for using Radiological Communication Center T3C (Service T3C)
  • Software Console for using Radiological Communication Center T3C (Console T3C)

Service T3C (software)

  • Service is a program that runs automatically at client's place and manages the communication (transfer of encrypted images) between client's place and the T3C Server.
  • Service is fully automated and can be run without the user's interaction.
  • Service is responsible for compression and decompression, encryption and decryption, and communication with the T3C Server.
  • Communication with Server is done using HTTP protocol, which means that it is not required to additionally configure proxy servers, firewalls and other NATs. It is possible to run the Service behind a firewall, which allow only outgoing connections.
  • Service provides interface for easy integration of all Radiological Communication Center services into 3rd party applications.

Console T3C (software)

  • Console is implemented on Intel platform, operating system Windows 2000/XP and allows full control of the T3C Service.
  • Console is used to send, retrieve and browse available patient image data, as well as monitor and control operations of the T3C Service.
  • Console allows sending and retrieving image data and attachments to or from:
    • TomoCon Workstation;
    • TomoCon PACS;
    • any other DICOM compatible device;
    • local disk folder.
  • Full support of Unicode (national alphabets).
  • Possibility to run the Console multiple times on different computers, accessing the same T3C Service and working independently and simultaneously with different patients.
  • Console ships in two language versions: English and Slovak.
